In the recent development, it was learnt that the likes of KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, and Shubman Gill are gearing up to take part in the upcoming Duleep Trophy next month, ahead of a crucial Test series against Bangladesh starting on September 19.

Virat KohliWhile earlier reports suggested that senior players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma might feature in the tournament, an ESPNCricinfo report has confirmed that both are unlikely to take part in the first place.

Apart Ravichandran Ashwin and Jasprit Bumrah are also set to skip the Duleep Trophy, opting for an extended break before the Bangladesh Test series in September.

On the other side of the coin, players like Suryakumar Yadav, Sarfaraz Khan, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rajat Patidar and even Ishan Kishan - who has been out of the national setup since December last year and missed out on a central contract, are expected to compete in the four-team tournament, which kicks off on September 5.

Amid the reports of Virat Kohli playing in the Duleep Trophy went viral on Monday, the veteran's 14-year-old tweet has resurfaced online. "Wish me luck for Duleep Trophy," Virat Kohli mentioned in a tweet back on January 25, 2010.
