Bangladesh pace bowler Jahanara Alam expresses her joy after returning to the national team again for the Women’s Asia Cup starting next month.
With 25 wickets in nine matches this season, Jahanara led the Dhaka Premier Division Women's Cricket League (DPDWCL) in wicket-taking.
Jahanara’s last appearance for Bangladesh came in a three-match away T20I series against Sri Lanka in May 2023. Since then, she was ignored. However, Jahanara reveals that in that time, she worked hard which gave her success.
"Alhamdulillah, I have returned to the national team after a long year and all the praise goes to Allah and during this one year I have trained at Masco academy for nine months. Sheikh Salauddin Sir and other coaching staff who were there have worked really hard with me and have tried to improve my performance," Jahanara stated in a statement released by the BCB on Friday.
"In fact in every moment I have tried to be prepared so that whenever the call comes from the women's national team I can grab the opportunity. In the last Premier League I have shown a good performance as well and you can say it was the result of the long training I have done for nine months. So, overall the feeling is really good as I will be able to represent Bangladesh once again," she added.
