Fast bowler Taskin Ahmed showcased incredible determination, grabbing six wickets in a recent cricket match despite suffering a blow to the head during practice. While his performance received widespread applause, few knew the pain and challenges Taskin endured leading up to the game. His wife, Sayeda Naima Rabeya, has now shared an emotional post shedding light on the untold story.
Rabeya began her heartfelt post by expressing gratitude to Allah, revealing how she discovered Taskin’s injury. “Just before the Fajr Azan, I learned that my husband had been struck on the head by a cricket ball, despite wearing a helmet. Those who play cricket understand how painful such an impact can be,” she wrote.
Being far away from Taskin, Rabeya felt helpless, with only prayers to comfort her. “It was heartbreaking because I could do nothing but pray. At that moment, I felt the pain of not being near him during difficult times.”
Rabeya urged Taskin not to play if the pain persisted, but her plea could not deter the determined cricketer. Instead, she turned to her faith, performing additional prayers for his safety and success. “I told him, ‘If the pain in your neck and head doesn’t subside, please don’t play.’ After speaking to him, I offered Fajr and two additional rakats of prayer, asking Allah to keep him safe and thanking Him for protecting Taskin from a worse injury,” Rabeya recounted.
Despite her concerns, Taskin went on to play and delivered a sensational six-wicket performance. Reflecting on the moment, Rabeya said, “Where I didn’t want Taskin to play with pain, today he took six wickets and even missed two more chances. It’s all for the best, InshaAllah.”
Rabeya also highlighted how cricketers often play through pain and injuries, which fans rarely get to see. “This is not just about my husband. Many players endure pain and injuries but keep playing. Nobody wants to lose or perform poorly intentionally. Fans only see what happens on the field, but there’s so much more that happens off it.”
Her post ended with a prayer for Taskin’s continued success and safety. “I am so happy that Allah blessed you with six wickets. MashaAllah. May Allah always protect you.”
Taskin’s remarkable performance, despite his injury, serves as an inspiration to his teammates and fans. His story, shared by his wife, offers a glimpse into the sacrifices and resilience cricketers often demonstrate to represent their teams and achieve greatness.
