The world cricket governing body banned Sri Lanka at the end of the World Cup due to government intervention on the cricket board. According to this ban, Lankans should not participate in international cricket. 

However, the ICC board meeting allowed Sri Lanka to continue international cricket despite the suspension of membership. In addition to bilateral series, Lankans can also participate in international tournaments. However, their dividend or income will be controlled by ICC.

Sri Lanka is also participating in the U-19 World Cup as usual due to being allowed to play. However, the organization has been lost. Sri Lanka has been ruled out as a venue for the Youth World Cup due to a ban by the ICC. South Africa, where Bangladesh won the World Cup in 2020, has been chosen as the replacement venue instead of Sri Lanka.

Two venues in South Africa are slated to host the Youth World Cup starting next January. One of which is Potchefstroom, where Bangladesh won the first World Cup in the country's sporting history by defeating India in the U-19 World Cup final in 2020. It should be noted that this time Bangladesh will fight with India, Ireland, and the USA in 'A' group.
