India endured a shocking Test series defeat at the hands of New Zealand, a result that has sparked criticism on Rohit Sharma's captaincy.

With one more Test remaining in the series, the pressure has already mounted on Rohit and the team. Amid the backlash, the former Indian cricketer spoke to IndiaToday.in, "The pressure you all talk about isn't something we feel. While there is pressure in the game, we don't dwell on losses or wins; that's part of the game," Dhawan said.

Furthermore, he emphasized that it is neither fair nor practical to assess a captain based on a single series outcome. Dhawan lauded Rohit for fostering a strong connection with the team before stressing the point that the skipper's influence goes beyond just results on the field.

"Rohit is a great leader; it's not just about winning and losing. There's a bond, the team's connection with its leader, and how much they look up to him," he explained.

Dhawan is of the notion that Rohit's leadership style creates a sense of unity and trust within the squad. The former cricketer feels that these are crucial for long-term success.

India's upcoming tour of Australia is scheduled to kick off on November 22 and Dhawan feels optimistic about India's chances. He emphasized that Rohit's experience will be valuable, whether or not he plays in the Test opener.

"India will do very well in Australia. Whether he plays the first match or not, of course, his presence and experience will be missed. But I am sure the boys are very, very professional and will perform well," Dhawan concluded
