Shakib Al Hasan, one of Bangladesh's cricket legends, is currently facing legal challenges, but his teammates are standing firmly by his side. After leading Bangladesh to a historic 2-0 Test series whitewash against Pakistan, Shakib played both matches despite the looming threat of lawsuits and arrest. His future in cricket now faces uncertainty due to ongoing legal issues.
Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto revealed that he plans to discuss Shakib’s situation with Bangladesh's chief adviser, Dr. Muhammad Yunus. In a phone conversation after the Pakistan series victory, Yunus invited Shanto and the team to meet, where Shakib’s situation is expected to be a key talking point.
Shanto affirmed the team's unwavering support for Shakib, saying, "Every player stands with Shakib bhai. He is incredibly dedicated to the team, and we all know how much he loves playing. If this issue comes up, every player will be by his side."
Shakib is currently one of the defendants in the murder case of garment worker Rubel, with many calling the case against him baseless. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has confirmed that Shakib will continue playing unless proven guilty and is even prepared to back him in court.
In the midst of these challenges, Shakib's philanthropic efforts remain strong. His foundation continues its work with flood victims in Bangladesh, providing food and housing for the affected. Despite being abroad, Shakib’s dedication to his charity remains unwavering.
