The third season of the SA20 is scheduled to begin on 9 January 2025. In the opening match of the tournament, defending champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape will face MI Cape Town in Gqeberha.

After the first two seasons were a huge success, SA20 2025 is set to once again delight the cricket community with exciting cricket over the next few weeks. Some of the best cricketers in the world are gearing up to take part in the franchise tournament. Defending champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape will be in action on the opening day of the event when they take on MI Cape Town at St George's Park in Gqeberha on Thursday 9 January.

The 2025 SA20 season will consist of 34 matches over 30 days. The 30 league matches will be followed by Qualifier 1, Eliminator, Qualifier 2 and Final. The playoff phase of the tournament will begin on February 4.

Sunrisers Eastern Cape enter the season as defending champions and the most successful franchise in the tournament's history, having won two consecutive titles in 2023 and 2024.

The SA20 2025 will be played across six venues – St George’s Park Gqeberha, Kingsmead Durban, Boland Park Paarl, The Wanderers Stadium Johannesburg, SuperSport Park Centurion and Newlands Cape Town.

Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator will be held in Gqeberha and Centurion respectively, while Centurion will host Qualifier 2. The final will take place in Johannesburg on Saturday, February 8.
