At the PSL 7 closing ceremony, the PCB Chairman announced that the Pakistan Cricket Board would expand PSL matches to include Multan, Peshawar and Quetta.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has awarded 100 one-year contracts to junior cricketers aged 13–19 under PCB's Junior Development Scheme. The players were chosen based on their potential to become future cricket stars.
Sharing the comment box with Mike Haysman for the first time since being elected PCB Chair, the former Pakistani cricketer expressed his delight at the success of the event. "I am very grateful for the successful staging of PSL 7. Everyone contributed wholeheartedly to make this event a success," he said.
Ramiz also commended the Lahore crowd for their overwhelming support for the seventh and for helping make the league successful by showing up in large numbers.
“I would like to thank our sponsors, players, franchises, medical team, law enforcement, local and provisional administrations, commentators and crew members and ground staff for their tireless efforts, as well as millions of television viewers around the world who brought this PSL into one made a memorable spectacle," added Ramiz.
Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Ramiz Raja paid tribute to Pakistani cricket fans as he credited them with the phenomenal success of the Pakistan Super League 7, which culminated on Sunday with Lahore Qalandars winning their first title at the Gaddafi Stadium found.
As well as financial support, PCB will also invest in improving their cricket skills while providing education to help them establish themselves as international stars. With the contract coming into effect, the 100 contract players will be paid a monthly amount of Rs. 30,000 each.
Scholarships are awarded at top schools and colleges/universities. Technical training is also offered and a comprehensive cricket skills plan is also followed by the youngsters.
The 100 contracts were divided into five categories:
- Total U-19 contracts: 45
- Total U-16 contracts: 25
- Total U-13 contracts: 15
- Special Talent/Nominated: 10th
- Treaties for Balochistan: 5
To be eligible for these contracts, a player must have represented his Cricket Association team in the same age division in the most recent domestic season. However, players selected on special talent criteria must have competed in City Cricket Association tournaments. All players selected to represent Pakistan U-19 and U-16 teams (within a year) also earned the contracts.
Ramiz also thanked the Lahore fans for their enthusiastic support for the seventh edition and for contributing to the success of the league by showing up in large numbers.
“Today is a fantastic PSL festival. "I believe that the people of Lahore have been instrumental in the success of the PSL," he remarked. "Given the passion of the crowd, it seems that a new stadium with a capacity of 50,000 people should be built in Lahore," he continued.
