Early Life
Asif's father was a daily wager while his mother was a homemaker. His younger brother is mentally challenged and his younger sister faces challenges after suffering a brain injury in her formative years. He was looked after by Biju George.
In 2016 he worked in Dubai as a warehouse keeper. But he soon returned home to take part in a fast bowling test held across India. He also took part in open court cases for the UAE national team at the ICC Academy but was rejected and soon returned to India.
Domestic Career
Asif has never played age group cricket for Kerala. He made his Twenty20 debut for Kerala in the 2017/18 Zonal T20 League on 12 January 2018. He was the combined highest wicket-taker for Kerala in the tournament with 5 wickets from two games. He made his List A debut for Kerala at the 2017-18 Vijay Hazare Trophy on February 9, 2018.
In August 2018, he was one of five players to be banned for three games at the 2018/19 Vijay Hazare Trophy after speaking out against Kerala captain Sachin Baby.
He finished the 2019-20 Vijay Hazare Trophy as Kerala's top wicket-taker with 14 wickets from seven games. He made his first-class debut for Kerala on December 9, 2019 at the 2019–20 Ranji Trophy.
Indian Premier League
KM Asif CSK In January 2018, he was purchased by the Chennai Super Kings at the 2018 IPL Auction. He made his IPL debut this season against Delhi Daredevils after suffering Deepak Chahar's injury.
KM Asif IPL 2022 In February 2022 he was bought again by the Chennai Super Kings at auction for the 2022 Indian Premier League Tournament.
