Praveen Jayawickrama (born September 30, 1998) is a professional Sri Lankan cricketer who plays for the national team. He made his international debut for the Sri Lanka cricket team in April 2021.

Domestic career

He made his first-class debut for Colts Cricket Club in the 2018/19 Premier League tournament on January 11, 2019. Before making his world-class debut, he was named to Sri Lanka's squad for the 2018 U19 World Cricket Championship. He made his debut for Moors Sports Club in the 2019-20 Invitation Limited Over tournament on December 15, 2019.

He made his Twenty20 debut on January 4, 2020, for Moors Sports Club at the 2019-20 SLC Twenty20 tournament. In August 2021 he was appointed to the SLC Blues team for the SLC Invitational T20 League tournament 2021.

International career

In April 2021, Jayawickrama was appointed to Sri Lanka's test squad for her series against Bangladesh. He made his Test debut for Sri Lanka against Bangladesh on April 29, 2021. On his debut, he took six wickets for 92 runs in the first innings to become the fifth bowler for Sri Lanka to take a five-wicket haul on debut in a Test match.

He also took five wickets for 86 runs in the second innings, becoming the first bowler for Sri Lanka and a total of 16. It was the best bowling performance of a left-arm spinner on debut in test cricket and the first bowler since Jason Krejza that year Took a 10 wicket haul on debut in 2008.

In June 2021, Jayawickrama was named to the Sri Lankan squad for the series against England. He made his debut at One Day International (ODI) for Sri Lanka against England on June 29, 2021. In July 2021, he was named to the Sri Lankan squad for the series against India. In August 2021, he was called up to Sri Lanka's Twenty20 International (T20I) squad for the series against South Africa.

In September 2021, Jayawickrama was appointed to Sri Lanka's squad for the men's ICC T20 World Cup 2021. He made his T20I debut for Sri Lanka against South Africa on September 12, 2021.
