He is a right-handed, fast bowler and a right-handed batsman with a tail end and was called up to the South Africa squad for the series against Sri Lanka due to relative darkness and little first-class experience. De Lange was drafted as a late replacement for Vernon Philander in the second test match against Sri Lanka and delivered 8/126 on the Test debut, including 7/81 in Sri Lanka's first innings. The numbers are the best for any bowler in test cricket in 2011.
Because of his British spouse, he is qualified to play cricket in England county.
Play style
de Lange is a great fast right arm bowler who can gain momentum and accuracy. Before his cricket career, de Lange was a javelin thrower, so he reached an impressive speed of 145 to 150 km / h from a short run.
International career
de Lange, at the age of 19, made his first-rate debut for the Easterns against Free State in 2010, posting numbers of 4/99. He was called up in the South Africa squad for the series against Sri Lanka due to relative ignorance and little first-class experience and impressed in the second test with speed and jumping ability, claiming 7-81 in the Sri Lankan first innings and catching 1-56 in this second . He sustained an injury during an unofficial T20 series in Zimbabwe in early 2012 and was forced to rearrange his actions to prevent further recurrence of the injury.
He made his Twenty20 debut against New Zealand on February 19, 2012 with Hamilton. He took the wicket from Martin Guptill on his debut.
T20 cricket franchise
Marchant de Lange was a surprise purchase at the 2012 Indian Premier League auction where Kolkata Knight Riders nicked it for its base price of $ 50,000. He played three games that season, taking 3 wickets averaging 35.66.
At the player auction for the 2014 IPL, Mumbai Indians bought this talented bowler for Rs. 30 lakh. He made her debut for her in her second match against Delhi Daredevils, replacing her best bowler Lasith Malinga. It was an important game as Mumbai had to win everyone to qualify for the playoffs. He went for 10 in his first over but impressed everyone with a great comeback, knocking Dinesh Karthik out of bowling on the first ball he bowled to him and later taking the all-important wicket from Manoj Tiwary. He finished with the numbers 2/31 and received the Kanna Keep Calm Award for staying cool and shooting the game for his team.
In October 2018 he was named to the Durban Heat squad for the first edition of the Mzansi Super League T20 tournament.
In 2021, he took the first 5 wicket haul on the inaugural edition of The Hundred while playing for the Trent Rockets.
