A couple of centuries in Ranji Trophy in 2023 helped Naman Dhir to come to the limelight. He also was the second highest run-getter for Punjab when they won the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2023 and also chipped in with 8 wickets. This got Mumbai Indians interested and they bid for him and pouched him ahead of the 2024 IPL auction. He was picked for only Rs. 20 lakhs.
