Veteran cricketer Mushfiqur Rahim has been facing heavy criticism lately for his poor run of form, especially after retiring from limited-overs cricket to focus solely on Tests. Mushfiqur is now the lone member still active in international cricket. However, the recent lack of runs has raised plenty of questions about his place in the side.
Coming to his defense, young wicketkeeper-batter Jakir Ali Anik has urged everyone to remember that the burden of scoring runs doesn't rest solely on Mushfiqur's shoulders. Speaking to the media, Jakir emphasized that every batter must take responsibility.
Jakir Ali firmly stated, "He’s not playing alone. It's not just his responsibility to score runs. Everyone in the batting lineup must contribute. Sometimes you go through tough patches — it can happen to anyone. Mushfiq bhai doesn’t have to score in every innings. It’s about the whole team stepping up."
Jakir stressed the importance of intent and fighting spirit even when runs aren't flowing, "Even if someone doesn’t score big, you have to show the fight. Like Hasan's last innings — I really liked his approach. He showed real fight. Everyone won’t score every day, but as long as you show intent, the big scores will eventually come. It’s important for everyone to step up."
Jakir also praised Mushfiqur’s dedication and work ethic, "Mushfiq bhai always works incredibly hard. He hasn't stopped. He’s still searching for his rhythm, and Insha’Allah, he will bounce back very soon."
