Earlier BCB President Nazmul Hasan Papon had stated that he believed Mashrafe was still available for T20Is despite calling time on his career as a captain. And now, BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury on Saturday echoed the same sentiment that BCB president Nazmul holds regarding the issue.
"As far as our understanding he retired from Twenty20 cricket as a captain. He can be considered for Twenty20 internationals if he is available and fit," he said.
Nizamuddin also added, "If you had noticed that he said that he is retiring after the series. He did not say he was retiring as a player from T20 internationals. He just retired from captaincy in T20 cricket while we cannot take anything seriously that followed afterwards in the social media."
Meanwhile, chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu said that the selection panel is yet to be informed about BCB’s stance regarding Mashrafe.
"From what I understand he had retired from Twenty20 internationals. However, we are not informed not to consider him in Twenty20 cricket."
