South Africa clinched a sweeping 2-0 victory over Bangladesh on their home ground, sealing the series with an emphatic innings-and-273-run win in the Chattogram Test. Despite his team’s dominant performance, South African captain Aiden Markram shared a note of personal dissatisfaction regarding his own batting form throughout the series.

While Markram’s team excelled on the field, he was candid about his desire to contribute more significantly with the bat. Speaking at the post-match press conference in Chattogram, he acknowledged his personal frustration: “Of course, I'm disappointed. I'm really hungry to score big runs again in test cricket. So we'll keep putting in the work and hopefully it can pay off. But as for numbers and stuff like that, it's all quite relative. You look at different surfaces that you play on.

“And wickets around the world are so different to each other and have so many different types of challenges that you face as a player. It can be tough to pump the average up, but we don't speak about numbers and things like that. We just speak a big impact on the game. And there can be a time where scoring a lot of 60 or 70 is match winning. And then there'll be times where big hundreds are match winning. So I'm certainly not too faced about numbers. I don't think that the rest of the guys are too faced either. But I think it's one of those things that will take care of itself. If you're putting good performances consistently, then naturally the numbers will lift. So we're all definitely striving towards that. We're trying to be more consistent and trying to have good impact on the game."
