England will showcase their fast-bowling depth by fielding seven seamers in their upcoming ODI series against Australia. With five matches packed into an 11-day stretch, beginning at Trent Bridge on Thursday, the demanding schedule will likely require some rotation, potentially offering Hampshire's John Turner a long-awaited chance to make his international debut.

At 23, Turner recently completed an economics and finance degree at Exeter University, but has been on the radar for England's white-ball squad for over a year. He was first called up for last summer’s T20I series against New Zealand, but injury sidelined him, and he remained unused during the tour of the Caribbean last December.

"Just being in the squad is a cool experience for myself," Turner said. "But you obviously want to and hope to debut at some point, and hopefully that comes at some stage in this series… being in and around the squads and the players, you naturally improve and you naturally learn.

"I definitely would say I'm in a much better place now than I was this time last year, but I've still got quite a long way to go: I'm not anywhere near the finished product… The way you approach the game with different ideas for different batsmen and different scenarios, that's what I end up taking from these types of environments."
