New Zealand had the last laugh in the Dhaka Test. After a tense and exciting fight on the fourth day, the Kiwis finally won by 4 wickets. The win ended the series at 1-1. Earlier, Bangladesh won the first test by a big margin of 150 runs. 

180 overs were played in the rain-affected match in four innings. Mirpur's wicket appeared in a familiar form. Spinners ruled the whole match. New Zealand won by 4 wickets at the end of the match. However, although such behavior of the wicket is considered normal, the Kiwi captain Tim Southee may not have liked it too much. The Kiwi captain also termed such a wicket as the worst wicket he had ever seen.

"It is probably the worst wicket I've come across in my career. The balance between bat and ball was heavily favoured into the bowler's hands. I think for the match to be over in 170 overs sort of reflects that. So, for our guys to scrap away and then come away with the win was a big pleasure,” Southee said.

"I think it was just a scrappy Test match. It was obviously a tough wicket. Runs were hard to come by, and just those little moments and partnerships throughout were crucial, whereas in other matches, I guess when conditions are a little bit more even between bat and ball, they don't get noticed as much."

Bangladesh themselves fell into the trap of getting spin-based wickets to take advantage of the home ground. Southee is very happy with such a victory of the team. He said, "I think when you come to this part of the world, especially for us, the conditions are so foreign, particularly this Test match, very foreign to what we're used to." said Southee, pleased with his team's performance in adverse conditions. "And I guess to lose the toss as well, and then to come out on top on a wicket like that was very pleasing. Like I say, a number of different guys have stepped up in different ways, and it's nice to bounce back after the first Test.”

The New Zealand tour of Bangladesh ended with this match. Bangladesh won the first match of the two-match Test series by 150 runs. New Zealand won the second match by 4 wickets. As a result, the Test series ended in a 1-1 tie. This time Bangladesh will go on a tour of New Zealand. The two teams will play 3 ODI and 3 T20I series there.
