Zimbabwe all-rounder Brian Bennett expresses joy after completing the series with a win despite the losses in the first four matches. Zimbabwe beat Bangladesh by a big margin of 8 wickets in the fifth and last T20I on Sunday (May 12) in Mirpur.
Zimbabwe came close to the win in the last two matches. They lost the last T20Is by 5 runs and 9 runs, respectively. But finally they won the last match. Bennett played a match-winning innings at the top today to seal the win for the visitors. Chasing the target of 158 runs, Bennett and captain Sikandar Raza’s unbeaten innings gave Zimbabwe an easy win in 18.3 overs.
Bennett scored 70 runs off 49 balls and Raza was unbeaten on 72 runs from 46 balls. The captain of Zimbabwe finished the innings with some gorgeous hitting. Through the series, Zimbabwean youngsters played very well.
Bennett also says the team management always backs the players despite what performance they show in the matches. “Very grateful for today. We came close in the last game but I am really happy for the team to go back with a victory, obviously not what you want from the series but a good effort from the team today. We have been backed and supported by the coaching staff. We have few youngsters in the team so I think we still have some time so let's see what happens in the future,” Bennett said.
