New Zealand international Rachin Ravindra has reserved the highest respect for Virat Kohli after the end of the third day's play in the ongoing Test match at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Virat KohliWhen India were in a real spot of bother after their terrible lowest-total at home (46 all-out), they were tasked with a huge responsibility to make the amends in the second innings.
The Indians got off to a splendid start in the form of Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal. The duo added 72 runs for the first wicket before Jaiswal (35) fell prey to Ajaz Patel's delivery.
On the other hand, Rohit Sharma was batting so well before he was dismissed in a strange manner. He attempted a forward defence off Ajaz Patel before the ball went on to hit the stumps.
However, Virat Kohli and Sarfaraz Khan steadied the ship with 136-run partnership for the third wicket before Kohli (70) fell prey to Glenn Phillips' delivery on the final ball of Day 3, much to the disappointment of the fans.
"Virat Kohli is obviously a great player, he punished us but we’ve still got a lot of runs to play with," Rachin Ravindra told the broadcaster after Day 3.
He also shed light on his partnership with Tim Southee which helped New Zealand to a great extent. The duo added 137 runs for the eighth wicket.
"Was just trying to build partnerships. That partnership with Tim really helped me out, the objective was clear and we knew what we needed to do. It’s a little bit comforting although the wicket is completely different, nice knowing the surroundings. It’s a lovely wicket to bat. Not really superstitious," Rachin Ravindra who scored 134 (13 fours, 4 sixes) added.
