In the ongoing Dhaka Test, Bangladesh opted for a spin-heavy attack with just one pacer, Hasan Mahmud, on a turning pitch. While Hasan has been performing admirably with the ball, the South African pacers have made life difficult for Bangladesh's batsmen. This has raised the question: Should Bangladesh have included another fast bowler in the playing XI?

During the post-day press conference, Hasan Mahmud faced repeated inquiries about Bangladesh's decision to field only one pacer. With a smile, Hasan quipped, "Maybe it would have been better if I bowled from both ends (laughs)."

However, he provided a more detailed explanation, stating that he has not felt the absence of another pacer on the other end. "I believe every bowler has the same responsibility, whether it's one pacer or two—it's all about taking wickets. Since I was chosen, my job is to figure out how to take wickets and build partnerships with the other bowlers. Whether it's one pacer or two, that's entirely up to the team management. Taijul bhai has bowled very well," Hasan said.

When asked if having another pacer could have helped with bowling partnerships, Hasan responded, "I just try to bowl according to the field. Whoever bowls from the other end will do their best to bowl maidens and put pressure. Whether it’s a spinner or a pacer at the other end, we work together to contain runs and avoid giving away boundaries."

Despite the challenges, Hasan remains focused on the task at hand, emphasizing the importance of teamwork between pacers and spinners in Bangladesh's bowling attack.
