Due to a minor left-side strain, fast bowler Gerald Coetzee of the Texas Super Kings (TSK) and South Africa will miss the remainder of Major League Cricket (MLC) 2024.
In TSK's opening tournament matchup with Los Angeles Knight Riders, the 23-year-old sustained an injury. During the match, he took one wicket for 28 runs in his four overs.
The Texas Super Kings have not yet revealed the replacement for injured Coetzee. They selected veteran West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo for the match versus Washington Freedom, however the contest was washed out due to rain. Texas Super Kings lost the first match.
Coetzee did not appear in South Africa's starting eleven despite being part of the team for the recently-concluded ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Ottneil Baartman played in replace of him. However, South Africa lost the final of the World Cup against India by 7 runs.
Coetzee's next assignment is a tour of West Indies, for which he was just selected in a 16-member squad. He has around a month to get back to full fitness. On August 7, the first Test of that series will take place in Trinidad. Beginning on August 15, the second Test will be place in Guyana.
