On July 12, Chetan was infected with coronavirus for the first time. He was then admitted to Sanjay Gandhi PGI Hospital in Lucknow. But as his condition did not improve there, he was shifted to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram. Since last Friday (August 14) night, Chetan's condition has started deteriorating alarmingly.
Outside of cricket, Chetan is the cabinet minister of the Uttar Pradesh provincial government. His condition started getting worse on Friday night and he had kidney failure on Saturday morning. Later, some more limbs of the body gradually become useless. As a result, he has been forced to keep in life support.
An official of the Delhi and District Association (DDCA) told the Press Trust of India (PTI) that Chetan had his first kidney failure on Saturday morning. Later more problems gradually appeared in the body. He was currently in life support.
