Bangladesh's women's cricket team has officially qualified for the ICC Women's ODI World Cup 2025, even though the final day was very tense and they lost their last two games.  In an exciting turn of events on the last day of the game, the Tigresses made sure they qualified by beating West Indies on net run rate, even though they beat Thailand.

After losing to Pakistan by seven wickets earlier in the day, Bangladesh’s hopes rested on the outcome of the West Indies vs Thailand match. Bangladesh were a clear favourite to make it to the next round after winning their first three games.  But losses to the West Indies and Pakistan in a row made the group very open.

West Indies had to beat Thailand's 167-run mark in just 10.1 overs in order to pass Bangladesh in the point table.  And there was a moment when it looked like they might be able to do it.

The Caribbean team got off to a fast start and were past 50 in just a few overs.  But the chase slowed down in the end.  It took them 10.5 overs to win by six wickets, which was just four balls too many to beat Bangladesh in terms of net run rate.

West Indies still could have made it to the World Cup if they had scored 172 runs in 11 overs.  But failing in that area meant that Bangladesh stayed in second place and, along with Pakistan, earned the last qualifying spot.
