On Monday, July 29, 2024, the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) announced here that the Delhi Premier League (DPL) would launch in the second half of August.

The Arun Jaitley Stadium will host the T20 competition, which will feature matches for both men's and women's teams.

The six men's teams that were sold at the league's franchise auction on Sunday brought in a total of Rs 49.65 crore.

The forthcoming Delhi Premier League is expected to greatly enhance the local cricket scene and provide fans with an exciting experience. This exciting T20 league will feature both international and local talent. In the men's franchise auction, the women's team was automatically won by the top four bids.

According to the release from the DDCA, the women's teams were automatically acquired by the top four bids in the men's franchise auction, thereby advancing gender inclusivity throughout the league.

"I am delighted to announce the Delhi Premier League Season 1 with a vision to provide equal opportunity for both male and female cricketers. The vision of DDCA has always been to nurture talent who can shine for their state team and country, and the Delhi Premier League is a significant step taken by the DDCA in that direction," DDCA president Rohan Jaitley said.

33 games in the men's division and 7 in the women's will make up the inaugural DPL season.
