Due to her commitments with Oval Invincibles in the Women's Hundred, where she is scheduled to play in all of the group-stage games, Chamari Athapaththu will not be available for Sri Lanka's T20I series in Ireland, according to ESPNcricinfo.

Athapaththu is scheduled to participate in The Hundred for the Oval Invincibles in every group stage. August 14 is the date of the Invincibles' last group stage match. The dates of the T20Is are August 11 and 13. For the ODI series, which is a part of the 2022–2025 ICC Women’s Championship cycle, she will connect with the Sri Lankan team. On August 16, the ODI series will take off.

Athapaththu was declared the winner of the Women's Asia Cup 2024, which completed recently. Athapaththu amassed 304 runs at an average of 101.33 in five matches during Sri Lanka's victory.

The youth will have a chance to make an impression on the global scene while Athapaththu is away. The 16-man roster includes Kaushini Nuthyangana, a young wicketkeeper. Although Nuthyangana has not yet made her ODI debut, she will back up regular wicketkeeper Anushka Sanjeewani.

Vishmi Gunaratne, an 18-year-old batter, will try to compensate for Athapaththu's absence. In 2024, she ranks fifth among women's T20I scorers. She has scored 416 points in 17 matches this year.
