The West Indies skipper, Kraigg Brathwaite, attributed the win to disciplined bowling, aggressive intent, and the critical first-innings runs. He also expressed gratitude towards the home crowd for their unwavering support, which added to the team’s confidence.

Speaking after the match, Brathwaite highlighted the importance of consistency in the bowling attack.

“We focused on maintaining our lengths and aggression for long periods. Early on, we picked up one wicket but kept building pressure with dot balls, which eventually brought more breakthroughs. In the second innings, the pitch quickened a bit, which helped us. Kemar led brilliantly. He’s a true champion and leader, even when not taking wickets. His mentorship for the younger pacers has been outstanding,” Brathwaite said.

He added, “Our pacers were excellent. Kemar Roach is the leader on and off the field. Their bowling was disciplined, with a great mix of aggression, which is crucial in Test cricket. They stuck to their lengths, picked up wickets, and demonstrated great skill. The future looks bright for this unit.”

Reflecting on the team’s dominant performance, Brathwaite acknowledged the significance of their 450-run first innings.

“Scoring over 400 runs gave us a substantial advantage. The pitch in Antigua tends to support pacers, but the first two sessions were slow. Our foundation came from key contributions—big fifties and Greaves’ century. That strong start allowed us to control the game and secure the win,” he explained.

“The fans have been incredible, always showing up for Test matches. We may not be the number one Test team, but their belief and support inspire us. Seeing them in the stands energizes us. Hopefully, more fans will come in the future, and as we keep winning, this support will grow. We owe them our thanks,” Brathwaite shared.

With the win, West Indies now lead the two-match series 1-0. The second Test will take place in Jamaica on November 30. Another victory would secure a series sweep for the hosts and mark a whitewash over Bangladesh.
