The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2025 season is gearing up for its Players' Draft on October 14. Franchises are now preparing their strategies, following specific guidelines set by the governing body of the BPL.

One of the key developments ahead of the draft concerns the Chattogram Kings franchise, which had faced financial complications. The issue has now been resolved after the franchise submitted a check of 15 million BDT, covering the first installment of its outstanding debts and the franchise fee. This clears the way for Chattogram Kings to participate in the upcoming draft without any hindrance.

For this draft, the BPL Governing Council has also introduced a salary cap or "spending limit" for each team. Franchises are allowed to spend up to 40 million BDT (around $365,000) for local players and a maximum of $250,000 (approximately 30 million BDT) for foreign players. Teams can also sign players outside of the draft via direct contracts, but this will require additional funds.

As of today (October 11), all participating franchises have submitted their lists of retained players and those signed via direct contracts. According to the BPL regulations, each returning franchise could retain up to two local players and sign one additional player directly. New franchises, however, were allowed to sign a maximum of two local players.

Each team can have between 10 and 14 local players, either through the draft or direct signings. As for foreign players, no specific limit has been set by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). The highly anticipated BPL Players’ Draft is expected to see fierce competition as teams look to finalize their squads for the upcoming season.
