Bangladesh young cricketer Zakir Hasan appeared in the international arena with Test cricket. It can be said that he has already settled in the Test team. However, the selectors want to use Zakir not only in Tests but also in limited-overs cricket. However, he did not get a place in the ODI or T20 team of the upcoming Afghanistan series.

He played a T20I in 2018 but didn’t make his ODI debut. Although Zakir is still not settled in limited-overs cricket, it is clear in the words of the selector Abdur Razzak that he is very well in the thinking of the limited-overs team. Earlier, he did not play in the Ireland series due to injury despite being called up. That is why the selectors did not forget about Zakir.

Razzak said, “We are thinking that Zakir will do well in white ball, he is in good form at the moment. He has been playing well for several days. We are trying to include him in the white ball team.”

Not just Zakir, any cricketer who is in form will be considered for all formats. Razzak added, “We will try to keep the players who are playing well and are in form. It can come in handy anytime. For example, Tamim suddenly got injured before the Test. It would have been difficult if we were not ready. 3-4 years ago I was going through a lot of trouble, backup was not ready like that. The more backups the better.”

Apart from Zakir, Rony Talukdar did not have a place in the ODI team. However, Razzak further said, “The new faces should be ready. Those who are in the team now, whoever is capable in that format will be given an opportunity in that format. When a team combination is required such teams are made. No one is left out.”

Meanwhile, Jaker Ali has been dropped from the T20 team without playing any match. The selection panel claimed that Jaker was called up to the main squad to keep him in the national team system, “We brought Jaker Ali to keep him in the system. At that time there were fewer opportunities to play. They are young players, they will play up front. It is for this reason (keeping it inside the system) that they can play for a long time.”
