Bangladesh will lock horn with Ireland in the only test from Tuesday. Bangladesh is full of confidence after winning the previous ODI and T20I series.
After winning the Test and ODI series against Ireland, Bangladesh have their eyes on the Test trophy in Bangladesh's first and only Test of the Tour of Ireland. Bangladesh comprehensively won the 3-match ODI series. They won the 1st ODI by a huge 183 runs margin, the second game was rained out but Bangladesh came back to beat Ireland by 10 wickets in the 3rd. The T20I series was also dominated by Bangladesh as they won the first two games to seal the series. Experienced all-rounder Shakib al Hasan will lead the Bangladesh team, while Andrew Balbirnie will lead the Ireland team.
Bangladesh Team Preview
Although Bangladesh have dominated Ireland in the ODIs and IT20s in recent weeks, they were beaten by Ireland for the first time on Friday in Bangladesh. With far more experience of this format than Ireland, however, the hosts will expect a huge winning margin.
Najmul Hossain Shanto and Litton These were the standout players for Bangladesh in the white ball series and we support both players to enjoy batting against the Irish bowlers in this friendly. Shakib Al Hasan has passed five test centuries and 30 half centuries.
On a playing pitch that is likely to turn a lot, we expect Shakib Al Hasan to pose a major threat to Bangladesh in this test. He is well supported by Mehidy Hasan Miraz to make a strong spin attack. The fast bowlers in this test are Taskin Ahmed and Ebadot Hossain, both of whom were in very good form.
Despite being in exceptional white ball form, Bangladesh have not won any of their last nine Tests.
Ireland Team Preview
After previous defeats by Pakistan in 2018 and by Afghanistan and England in 2019, this will be Ireland's fourth-ever Test match. Although it has been almost four years since they last played in this format, Irish players will look forward to playing in the long format again.
Captain Andy Balbirnie will come back to lead the team after being rested for the IT20 series at the end of March. He is expected to open batting and could be joined at the top of the order by PJ Moor, the former Zimbabwe wicketkeeper-batsman who has played eight Tests and qualified for Ireland in October 2022.
With Josh Little absent from the Indian Premier League and Barry McCarthy absent from this entire tour, Ireland's bowling attack will once again lack punch and experience. 20-year-old left-arm spinner Matthew Humphreys, who had already made his IT20 and ODI debuts on this tour, will be the main spinning option.
Ireland picked up their first win of the Tour in last IT20 on Friday but lost all three of their previous tests.
Head to Head
This is the first Test match between Ireland and Bangladesh. Although these teams have already played some ODI and T20I games, it is the first time they meet in an official test.
Pitch Report
The pitch of Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur, Dhaka is a balanced surface. The team that wins the toss chooses to bat first. Meanwhile, the pacers have an advantage on this pitch in the first overs. The Spinners will certainly have an advantage in the middle overs. Overall, it's a batting-friendly field. Therefore we will see a high score match between BAN and IRE.
Weather Report
The weather forecast for the BAN vs IRE Only Test on Tuesday 4th April 2023 at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur, Dhaka is forecast to be mostly cloudy or sunny or clear and rainy. The temperature is expected to be around 12℃ with 81% humidity and a wind speed of 20km/h.
Toss Prediction
The wicket offered at the Mirpur venue in Dhaka will help the bowlers overall. In this Test, things could get tougher for the batters as the days go by. So the team that wins the toss will try to bat first on this track.
Betting Tips
Everyone, including us, expects the Bangla Tigers to outplay their Irish counterparts in this game. Last year, the Bangladeshi team beat much tougher competition in India at this venue. Mehidy Hasan Miraz was successful in hitting a 5-wicket haul in the game. In these spinner-friendly conditions at Mirpur, Ireland are expected to struggle in both the batting and bowling departments. We will bet with Bangladesh to win this game.
