Bangladesh eye improvement in West Indies tour

Bangladesh's packed schedule has seen them in continuous action over the past months with tours to Pakistan, India, a home series against South Africa, and the Afghanistan series in the UAE. Even after the Afghanistan tour, there’s no break; the team will head straight to the West Indies for a full series, facing the hosts in two Tests, three ODIs, and three T20Is.

The recent ODI series against Afghanistan brought a mix of highs and lows for Bangladesh. Following a loss in the first match, Bangladesh leveled the series by winning the second ODI but ultimately lost the series after Afghanistan took the decider, winning 2-1. Now, as Bangladesh’s busy cricket calendar continues, the Tigers are preparing for a challenging Caribbean tour.

Head coach Phil Simmons, a Caribbean native himself, is hopeful for a stronger performance in the upcoming series against West Indies, drawing from his knowledge of the local conditions.

Reflecting on recent matches and the upcoming challenge, Simmons said after the final ODI against Afghanistan: “We didn’t do well in the two-Test series against South Africa, and here (in the Afghanistan series) things didn’t go as planned either. The ODI series in Saint Kitts will have conditions similar to the UAE. I’m unsure of conditions in Saint Vincent, and the Tests will be held in Antigua and Jamaica. The players are ready, although unfortunately, we’re dealing with a few injuries. From here, we need to keep fighting and seize every opportunity.”

The two-Test series in the Caribbean is scheduled to start on November 22, with Bangladesh eager to showcase resilience and compete strongly on the West Indies’ home turf.
