South Africa wicket-keeper batter Heinrich Klaasen says that the batters will be happy to get out of New York but says that it was a good experience for them and it will be beneficial for them for the next stages of this year’s ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

“I think all the batters are keen to get out of this place to be fair. The bowlers would love to stay here but no, we’ve done our job. That was the goal to win three out of three here. And obviously it was little bit harder than that we though but that’s also good preparation for going into the next phase of this competition. We’ve dealt with the pressure very in these three games and it’s always good experience and you can put it into a notebook and always go back when the tough times come again,” Klaasen said.
However, Klaasen thinks that the case will be different in West Indies as the pitch will be better there. But not like 200+ scores will be scored always. “It’s different. I saw there out of 18 games, only one score of above 200 there. So normally in the Caribbean it’s about 160 as par. If you get to 160, 170 in a good shot, you have to bowl well. So, I reckon that’s normally the good scores there or the past scores depending where you play. The wickets are very different around the Caribbean. So I think it’s the flip of the toss of the coin we plan what on wicket you get now,” Klaasen added.
South Africa will move to West Indies for their last group-stage match against Nepal on June 15.
