India beat Sri Lanka by 7 wickets (DLS method) on Sunday (28th July) at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Pallekele. Ravi Bishnoi stole the show with his 3 wicket-haul, which triggered the collapse of Sri Lanka's batting lineup at the tad backend of the innings despite another superb start from their top order. In reply, Yashasvi Jaiswal, skipper Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya all contributed to snatch the series with one game to go.

The newly appointed captain Suryakumar Yadav and coach Gautam Gambhir begin their stint with a series win over Sri Lanka. 
Being asked to bat first, Arshdeep Singh removed Kusal Mendis earlier on but Pathum Nissanka gave Sri Lanka solid start with his 32 off just 24 deliveries. Number three batter, Kusal Perera notched up a fifty and was involved in couple of fifty runs partnership. Sri Lanka were up and running, in a good position on 130-2 after 15 overs. But they faltered heavily in the later part of their innings and collapsed horribly to post only 161 on the board, despite having a solid foundation to the innings.

The heavens opened up after Sri Lanka's innings and the play was stopped for more than an hour and then the both the target and over were reduced.

Chasing 78 inside 8 overs, India started off with 10 off the first over before Maheesh Theekshana cleaned up Sanju Samson for a duck. In walked skipper Suryakumar Yadav and he joined the party with Jaiswal. Both the batters counter-attacked the Lankan bowlers, while the skippee himself was enjoying himself on the crease and demonstrated his skill set on sweep shots. Pathirana dismissed SKY after being hit for a six but that didn’t put any impact into the game as he already buried the match.

Hardik came in and hammered 22 off just 9 deliveries, with the help of 3 fours and a six to seal the series India.
