South Africa have achieved a remarkable Test series victory over Bangladesh on their home turf, sweeping the two-match series 2-0 and marking a major accomplishment in subcontinental conditions. South African captain Aiden Markram and his team displayed resilience and skill, overpowering the hosts in both Mirpur and Chattogram, where typically spin-friendly pitches make it challenging for visiting teams, especially from outside the subcontinent.

After sealing their win in the second Test in Chattogram, a delighted Markram shared his thoughts in a press conference. “I don't necessarily enjoy stuff like that. So for me, it's more special being a part of a team That's just one for the first time in 10 years in the subcontinent. So as a player of the team, incredibly proud. Obviously incredibly happy as well with being able to get a series one year. Obviously, you knew it was never going to be easy, but very fortunate that we had some special performances along the way that got us into really strong positions, and we were able to apply pressure through that. So, yeah, a proud moment for all of us, absolutely, and one that we'll reflect back on in the years to come as a special, too,” Markram expressed.

In the opening Test in Mirpur, South Africa delivered a solid performance, clinching victory by 7 wickets. Bangladesh put up some resistance, especially in the second innings, reaching 307 after their first-innings collapse to 106. However, the Proteas’ 308-run first-innings total had already given them a significant lead, and they chased down the modest target of 106 with ease.

The second Test in Chattogram saw South Africa’s dominance at its peak. Batting first, they declared at a towering 575, with Bangladesh unable to catch up in either innings, eventually falling short by an innings and 273 runs. “At times, we’ve faced really tough periods, so being able to come out of them with positive results is valuable for us as a Test team,” Markram remarked.
