Besides playing one of his best cameos, his extravagant defensive shot was the talking point of the match between Renegades and Perth Scorchers. It was a slower ball by
which deceived Sam Harper. Harper was looking to play an innovative shot to add flesh to the scorecard.
But the pace and quick swing in the ball made the wicket-keeper batsman change his mind. The latter finally settled for a dot ball as he defended the ball. Harper went onto make a staggering 73 runs in 46 balls which helped his side to give a pretty decent target of 176 runs to Perth Scorchers.
Harper was removed by Mitchell Marsh's bowling during the 16th over of the innings. Marsh pitched in a slower delivery but Harper had ideas to hit the ball over but ended up getting caught by
in the sweeper cover.
Even KFC Big Bash League handle came up with a unique caption for Sam Harper. The caption reads: "The most extravagant defensive shot in BBL history? #BBL09."
