South African cricketer Rassie van der Dussen unleashed his full potential during the recently concluded game against the New Zealand cricket team at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune. New Zealand won the toss and opted to bowl first.

Rassie van der Dussen The bowlers kept the South African batters in check by preventing them from playing too many shots in the initial stages of the game. South African players were scoring at four an over but they broke the shackles by increasing their scoring rate to a great extent. 

South African skipper Temba Bavuma fell prey to Trent Boult's delivery as he was dismissed for 24 runs. However, Quinton de Kock and Rassie van der Dussen took the game away from the Black Caps by constructing a 200-run second-wicket partnership, which steered the Proteas into the comfort zone. 

Quinton de Kock brought up his fourth century of this edition's World Cup. Interestingly, he went on to equal Kumar Sangakkara's four centuries in a single edition of the ODI World Cup (2015). On the other hand, Rassie van der Dussen scored his second century of this edition's World Cup. 

He chipped in with a magnificent 133 off 118 balls with the help of nine fours and five sixes. South Africa posted a huge total of 357/4 in their quota of 50 overs. On the contrary, New Zealand were bundled out for 167 runs. Keshav Maharaj was the pick of the bowlers as he accounted for 4 dismissals.

Marco Jansen also bowled pretty well by taking three wickets. South Africa won the game by 190 runs and Rassie van der Dussen was named the Player of the Match. After the game, he said, "I thought they bowled pretty well upfront. Our run rate was around 4 runs per over. It was a hard-working fifty for Quinny and then he guided me. We batted together quite nicely. The pitch got better when the ball got softer, luckily it worked well for us. It's one of those pitches when you hit a good length there's something in it for the bowlers, so we communicated that to our bowlers. Test match lengths work," he added.

Furthermore, he said, "They kept a lid on us but we knew if we take it deep we can score big later. Quinny was brilliant in reminding me to keep my shape. Be relentless if it's in your area but respect the good ball. Miller and the others were brilliant at the end. 300-320 is what we were talking in the middle. Very pleased we got over the line by a good margin. Everyone contributed. Out and out team performance."
