India lost the three-match ODI series 2-0 on the tour of Sri Lanka. Rohit Sharma's team lost by 110 runs in the last match of the series with full strength XI on Wednesday (August 7) in Colombo. Rohit admits that Sri Lanka were the better team throughout the whole series. 

The first match of the series was tied. Sri Lanka won the second match. As a result, Rohit's team needed a win in the last match to avoid losing the series. But they did not win, instead they lost by a bigger margin. Rohit is blaming their own strategy for this.

According to Indian captain Rohit, they needed to play brave cricket by understanding the wicket. Rohit said, "It is important to take on the bowlers on such pitches, where the ball is turning and it is tough to score. It is important to be a bit brave. I don't think we were brave enough throughout the series to put them under a little bit of pressure. That's why we were a bit left lagging behind slightly."

Rohit also faced the question of whether India became overconfident after winning the T20 World Cup. He ruled out such a possibility. Instead, Rohit credited Sri Lanka's good fielding skills.

He added, "It's a joke. When you're playing for India, there's no complacency as long as I am here captaining the team. It's not going to be the case. You come here trying to win every game, give your best and find answers, but yes, we were outplayed. You've got to give credit where it's due, Sri Lanka played better cricket than us."

However, the Indian captain does not see anything to worry about this defeat. Rohit expressed his determination to turn around again with a new plan. He further said, "I don't think it's a concern. But it's something we need to look at seriously, into our individual game plans. We were definitely put under pressure throughout the series. We need to look into it, do something differently, need to talk about it and come back with different plans."
