Shakib Al Hasan, the former captain of Bangladesh cricket team, has been dealt a big legal blow when all of his assets were seized by a court in Dhaka in connection with a BDT 4.15 crore fraud case.

Ziadur Rahman, the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate of Dhaka, made the decision on March 24 after hearing a plea to take away Shakib's property because he didn't show up to court.  The order comes after he was given an arrest warrant in January for a case involving a bad bank cheque.

Before, on January 19, the same court issued an arrest warrant for Shakib and two other people in the case that IFIC Bank brought.  The cricket player, who was also a Member of Parliament (MP) for Magura-1, is said to have been living outside of India since August 5, 2024, when the government changed.

A BDT 4.15 crore cheque from Shakib Al Hasan Agro Farm Ltd. is said to have been bounced, which led to court action.  Gazi Shahagir Hossain, managing director of Shakib's company, Imdadul Haque, director and Malaika Begum, director, are also charged in the case.

The court first called all four of the suspects on December 18, 2024, but none of them showed up.  The arrest warrant was granted because the person did not show up for court on January 18 as ordered.  Because Shakib is still not there, the court has now agreed to take his property.

Even though he was in trouble with the law, Shakib said he was going to keep playing ODIs after he quit Test and T20 cricket.  He wasn't on Bangladesh's team for the Champions Trophy, though.

To make things even worse, his bowling action was said to be questionable while he was playing county cricket in England.  He went through two reevaluations but failed both of them, so he didn't make the final team. Even though he just recently fixed his bowling action, Shakib got himself into more trouble when he was in a commercial that fans and experts said was offensive.
