Akeal Jerome Hosein (born April 25, 1993 in Trinidad) is a cricketer from Trinidad who played for Trinidad and Tobago in West Indian cricket and represents the Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
Domestic and T20 career
Hosein was born in Port of Spain and represented the West Indian U19s at the 2012 U19 World Cup in Australia. His first-class debut for Trinidad and Tobago came during the 2012-13 Regional Four Day Competition against Jamaica. The following season, Hosein was man of the game in consecutive games, winning 6/33 and 5/34 against the Windward Islands and then posting a first-class century, 102 not out, against the Leewards. He then signed with the Barbados Tridents for the Caribbean Premier League 2014 and has since appeared for the team in the Champions League Twenty20 tournaments in 2014 and the CPL tournaments in 2015.
In November 2019, he was named to the Trinidad and Tobago squad for the 2019-20 Regional Super50 tournament. In July 2020 he was appointed to the Trinbago Knight Riders squad for the 2020 Caribbean Premier League.
International career
In December 2020, Hosein was appointed to the squad of West India's One Day International (ODI) for her series against Bangladesh. He made his ODI debut for the West Indies against Bangladesh on January 20, 2021.
In February 2021, he was named to the West Indies squad for Twenty20 International (T20I) for their series against Sri Lanka. In May 2021, Akeal received a central white ball contract from Cricket West Indies for the 2020/21 season. He was one of 10 players to receive a central white ball contract for the 2020/21 season.
In June 2021 he was inducted into the squad of Twenty20 International (T20I) of the West Indies for the series against South Africa. He made his T20I debut on July 3, 2021 for the West Indies against South Africa. He joined the West Indies squad in July 2021 to play the final two T20Is against Australia.
In September 2021, Hosein was named as one of four reserve players in the West Indies squad for the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup.
