Babar Azam's replacement Kamran Ghulam became the talk of the town after he smashed an impressive century against England on his Test debut at Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan.

Kamran GhulamEarlier, Babar Azam was on the receiving end for his inconsistency in red-ball cricket. He came up with a string of low scores in his last 17 innings since 2023. More importantly, he failed to deliver the goods in the first Test against England at home, which Pakistan lost by an innings and 47 runs.

As a result, the PCB decided to drop him from the remaining two Tests against England. Babar Azam's absence provided a window of opportunity for the 29-year-old all-rounder Kamran Ghulam.

Notably, he seized the chance with both hands by letting his bat do all the talking on Day 1 of the second Test. He scored 118 runs with the help of 11 fours and a six before he was dismissed by Shoaib Bashir. 

After the end of the day's play, Babar Azam took to his official Instagram handle to laud Kamran Ghulam for his stellar knock. He posted an Instagram story that had the caption, "Well played Kamran!"

When the hosts were off to a shaky start at19/2 within the first hour of the match, debutant Kamran Ghulam who came out to bat at No.4 joined Saim Ayub at the crease.

While Ghulam started off a bit nervously, he gradually grew in confidence as he settled in. Meanwhile, Ayub played a more cautious and steady game. Together, they built a crucial 149-run partnership for the third wicket, which brought the much-needed stability to the team.
