Litton made a rare record by hitting a golden duck on his birthday. Litton became the first cricketer to hit a golden duck on his birthday.

There is another incident of Bangladeshi batter being dismissed on the first ball of the innings in the World Cup. Bangladesh opener Hannan Sarkar was dismissed in the first ball match against Sri Lanka in 2003 World Cup. Only Bangladesh batters made the feat of being dismissed twice in the history of the World Cup.

In addition, Boult himself created a record by dismissing Litton. Boult became the first New Zealand bowler to take a first-ball wicket in a World Cup match.
