The excitement for the India-Bangladesh Test series has officially kicked off, with both captains exchanging words before the battle begins on September 19 in Chennai. Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto, fresh off a 2-0 series victory over Pakistan, had earlier expressed confidence that his team would defeat India in both Test matches. In response, India captain Rohit Sharma has downplayed the hype, telling reporters, "Let them have fun."
Bangladesh's recent performances, especially in the fast-bowling department, have caught the attention of cricket pundits. In Pakistan, the Bangladeshi pacers dominated, while the spinners maintained their consistent form. One player, in particular, has become a talking point—Nahid Rana, who has been identified by Indian media as a potential threat to Team India.
When asked about Shanto’s bold statements and the rise of Nahid Rana during a press conference, Rohit Sharma said, "Sab team ko India ko harana hai. India ko harane mein maza aata hai. Maze lene do unko (Everyone wants to beat India. They get a kick out of beating India. Let them have fun)."
Rohit went on to remind everyone that talk means little unless it’s backed by performance. "Our job is to try and win and not to think about what the opposition is thinking about us. When England came here, a lot was said in press conferences and stuff but we didn't focus on that. How do we win games and get closer to positive result was important for us. And that will be our main target yet again and not think about the team we are playing against," Rohit added.
Bangladesh have never beaten India in a Test match, and the anticipation is high to see if they can break that streak in the upcoming series.
