Zakir Hasan is eager to prove his mettle as he rejoins Bangladesh's ODI squad for the upcoming Afghanistan series. Though he previously featured in ODIs, Zakir didn’t make a notable impact. However, this time around, he is determined to give his best if given the chance. Speaking to the media prior to his departure to Dubai on November 3, Zakir shared his excitement and goals for the series.

Discussing his focus for the Afghanistan series, Zakir commented, "I think there are definitely challenges, but it should be a very competitive series. From what I know, the Sharjah wicket is generally favorable, so I expect an exciting match [series]. My goal is to give my all in any game I play, Inshallah. As a team, our aim is to focus on each game individually and do our best."

Bangladesh have been facing challenges with opening partnerships across all formats, with early wickets often costing the team strong foundations. Zakir acknowledged this, saying, "It's true we’ve struggled to provide a solid start. Even in Tests, our openers haven't been able to set a strong foundation, which has affected our performance. But we can't dwell on that, especially with series coming up so quickly. We’re all trying to figure out ways to improve and build partnerships from the top order. A solid start will make things easier for the middle order."

The much-anticipated three-match ODI series between Bangladesh and Afghanistan is set to begin on November 6.
