We lost in all three facets: Scott Edwards after Bangladesh defeat
Edwards and Sybrand Engelbrecht made a good partnership in the middle-over featuring 42 runs in 5.1 overs. Edwards said they wanted to maximize the middle-overs as there were good bowlers for Bangladesh in the death.

Netherlands captain Scott Edwards credits Bangladesh for the win and says that they were defeated in all three sectors (batting, bowling, fielding) in this match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
Netherlands lost to Bangladesh by 25 runs on Thursday (June 13) at Kingstown, ST Vincent. Earlier, Bangladesh posted 159 on the board. Bangladesh's veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan's brilliant fifty, along with some late blitz from Jaker Ali and Mahmudullah Riyad helped Bangladesh reach this total. In reply, miserly spell from Mustafizur Rahman and a match-turning spell from Rishad Hossain snatched the game away from the Dutch. Netherlands were restricted to 134 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs.
“We lost in all three facets. Credit to Bangladesh, they were great and we weren't up to it. They kept wickets in hand. Would be tough to bowl to a windy boundary,” Edwards said.
Edwards and Sybrand Engelbrecht made a good partnership in the middle-over featuring 42 runs in 5.1 overs. Edwards said they wanted to maximize the middle-overs as there were good bowlers for Bangladesh in the death. “We knew they had quality bowlers at the death and wanted to maximise the middle overs but fell quickly,” Edwards added.
Aryan Dutt was included in this match in the squad and he repaid the faith by picking up the wicket of Najmul Hossain Shanto and Litton Das. His bowling figure was 4-0-17-2. Edwards praises Dutt after the match. “Aryan has been sensational in the last couple years and used the conditions well,” Edwards further said.
Netherlands have played 3 matches and won just 1 match. So, their chances for the Super Eight Stage is looking tough now. They will play Sri Lanka in their next match. “It's a bit out of our hands now. Want to play well vs Sri Lanka and see how it goes from there,” Edwards concluded.
