Despite the odds, Bangladeshi opener Soumya Sarkar remains optimistic and insists that the team must focus on their own game rather than their opponent's reputation.

In a pre-match press conference, Soumya shared his thoughts, saying: "A few months ago, I played in the Global T20 here. That experience gave me some valuable exposure. The T20I series starts day after tomorrow. Instead of thinking about big or small teams, what matters is who plays better across 20 or 40 overs. If we can excel in all three departments—batting, bowling, and fielding—we believe we can comfortably defeat them. West Indies are strong in T20 cricket, but if we play our best, we can win matches."

Soumya also reflected on the team's recent performances: "We had been performing well in ODIs, though the last couple of series didn’t go as planned. However, it’s encouraging to see our batters putting up 300 runs consistently. While our bowlers struggled in the last series, they have been reliable overall. We hope to make a strong comeback in the T20I series, with batters maintaining their consistency and bowlers regaining their rhythm."

The first T20I match between Bangladesh and West Indies is scheduled to take place on December 16 at 6:00 AM Bangladesh time. With the series taking place in the challenging Caribbean conditions, Bangladesh will aim to improve their T20 credentials and put up a spirited fight against the hosts.
