India's star batter Virat Kohli continued to struggle against Australia's bowlers, falling for just 3 runs on Day 3 of the third Test in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 at the Gabba, Brisbane. Kohli's departure came in the eighth over, as Hazlewood delivered a pitched-up ball outside off-stump, a familiar weakness in Kohli's recent struggles. Kohli chased after the ball, only managing to edge it to wicketkeeper Alex Carey, who completed a comfortable catch. This dismissal marked another instance of Kohli falling to a wide delivery outside off, a pattern that has plagued him throughout this series.

Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar was particularly critical of Kohli's decision-making, calling it a "poor" rush of blood. He pointed out that had Kohli resisted the temptation to play at the wide ball from Hazlewood, he could have gone into lunch unbeaten.
