The IPL 2025 clash between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at Chepauk had fans on the edge of their seats but one moment stole the show a heated battle between RCB batsman Virat Kohli and CSK fast bowler Matheesha Pathirana.

During the 11th over of RCB’s innings Pathirana delivered a fiery 142 km/h bouncer that struck Kohli on the helmet. The RCB opener attempted a pull shot but misjudged the pace taking a direct blow to the head. 

However Kohli wasn't one to back down. On the very next ball, he made a bold statement smashing a short-pitched delivery over the ropes for a six. As if that wasn’t enough he followed it up with a powerful boundary over mid-wicket asserting his dominance in the contest.

Batting first RCB put up a strong total of 196/7 in 20 overs. Phil Salt gave the team a flying start with a quickfire 32 off 16 before MS Dhoni stumped him off Noor Ahmad’s bowling. Kohli despite his early battle with Pathirana played a cautious knock of 31 off 30 balls before falling to the same bowler.

Captain Rajat Patidar was the standout performer scoring a fluent 51 off 32 balls including four boundaries and three sixes before Pathirana dismissed him.

For CSK Noor Ahmad was the pick of the bowlers grabbing three key wickets while Pathirana added two scalps to his name. Despite the spinners getting assistance from the Chepauk pitch RCB managed to set a formidable target.
