Veteran New Zealand seamer Tim Southee was given an emotional send-off as he walked out to bat for one last time in Test cricket during Day 3 of the third Test against England at Seddon Park, Hamilton. The entire England team formed a guard of honour, applauding Southee as he made his way to the crease, marking a significant moment in his illustrious career.
In a touching gesture, England's vice-captain and wicketkeeper Ollie Pope shook hands with the 35-year-old, acknowledging his contribution to the game. However, Southee’s final innings with the bat was brief, as he managed just 2 runs off 6 balls before being dismissed by left-arm spinner Jacob Bethell.
Attempting a trademark big shot, Southee edged the ball and was caught by Zak Crawley at long-on, ending his innings in a familiar fashion looking to go big.

Southee, who has hit 98 Test sixes in his career, needed just two more maximums to reach the 100 sixes milestone, a feat only achieved by Brendon McCullum among New Zealand players and just three others in Test history. Unfortunately, his final innings fell short of the record.
On the field, New Zealand extended their control over the third Test, leading a commanding 453 runs, courtesy of Kane Williamson’s outstanding 156. In response, England found themselves in trouble at 18/2 by the end of Day 3, with Matt Henry and Tim Southee picking up a wicket each.
