The first Ashes Test match between England and Australia certainly lived up to the expectations of the fans. Both teams performed well in most of the fragments and the game is dragging towards the final stages. The game is still evenly poised and both teams have a chance to take the first lead in the series.

England were bowled out for 273 runs in the second innings and set up a target of 280 for the visitors. The likes of Joe Root, Harry Brook and Ben Stokes chipped in with vital contributions to the team with scores of 46, 46 and 43 runs respectively.
It helped England post a decent score in the second innings. In response, Australia got off to an optimistic start in the form of David Warner and Usman Khawaja. The left-handed duo literally gave problems to the England bowlers by smashing boundaries at will.
David Warner looked so comfortable at the crease as he scored 36 runs including 4 boundaries. Meanwhile, England paceman Ollie Robinson provided a crucial breakthrough by getting rid of Australia's trump card, Warner with a tricky delivery. The right-arm paceman pitched in with a length ball to Warner.
The experienced southpaw decided to defend the ball in the first place only to get a slight edge off his willow. Jonny Bairstow took a regulation catch in his safe pair of gloves. The decision to bowl round the wicket reaped rewards for the England cricket team and this will give a bit of confidence going forward into the game.

Australia are still in complete control of the game and they will have to approach the innings with caution and aggression to be on the safe side. On the other hand, England will be looking forward to taking a few more wickets in order to get back in the game.
