The incident happened during the third over of Northamptonshire's innings when Lancashire paceman Luke Wood bowled a fuller delivery, which tempted Ricardo Vasconcelos to play a shot. As it turned out, the left-handed batsman found a thick outside edge in the first place.
Meanwhile, Jos Buttler reacted pretty quickly and had the sensational reflex to take a stunning one-handed catch. Buttler's teammates went up to him and praised him for his stunning effort. The video clip of Buttler's surreal catch spread like wildfire on social media portals.
Talking about the game, Northamptonshire batted first and posted 138 for the loss of seven wickets in their designated quota of 20 overs. Chris Lynn top-scored for the team with 35 off 25 balls where he struck two fours and two sixes during his stay at the crease.
On the other hand, Luke Wood was the pick of the bowlers for Lancashire as he registered 3/17 in his quota of four overs. In response, Lancashire chased down the target in 16.4 overs and won the game by six wickets. Philip Salt anchored the run-chase with his unbeaten 74* off 51 balls (5 fours and 4 sixes).
At the post-match presentation, Philip Salt said, "We got a message towards the end to finish the game as quickly as possible, and that's what we were looking for. The quality of our line-up, we bat very deep, and the quality is unbelievable. We have a great coaching staff there. It gives you so much confidence with that kind of quality in the team. We are coming to the party just at the right time. I am no expert at net run rates and looking at the point tables."
