Pakistan's Fakhar Zaman put on a stellar show on Thursday, smashing 67 runs off 52 balls to lead the Desert Vipers to a five-wicket victory over MI Emirates at the Dubai International Stadium. His crucial innings helped the Vipers chase down a target of 160 with ease, marking their third consecutive win of the season.

After electing to bat first, MI Emirates struggled to capitalize on a solid start, finishing with 159/6. Kieron Pollard and Romario Shepherd gave their side a late boost, hitting two sixes each in the last two overs to push the total past 150.

The Vipers began their chase strongly, thanks to an impressive partnership between Fakhar Zaman and Alex Hales, who contributed 34 runs. Zaman then teamed up with Sam Curran for a 65-run stand, setting the stage for Sherfane Rutherford’s quick-fire 21 off 8 balls to seal the victory with five balls to spare.

Reflecting on his innings, Zaman credited the game plan for their success.

“I think the fast bowlers were easy, but we were struggling against spinners. We just planned to play out their overs and take the game deep. It was because of the way the bowlers were bowling and the leg-side boundary was big, so I was looking for runs on the shorter boundary,”

With this win, the Desert Vipers remain at the top of the points table, continuing their dominant form in the season.
